Hey, it's Diggy.
Speaker:Those of you who don't know me don't know that I have previously had a podcast called That's a Free Bee. Now, you could buy or means go back and listen to that. I would probably suggest not doing. If you're brand new to this podcast, I probably wouldn't go back and listen to the previous one because there's probably going to be quite a bit of repetition. The previous podcast,
Speaker:That’s a Free Bee was an experiment that I set up to, well, see if I could actually create a podcast
Speaker:as a lot of people find you get friends that say, oh, you should start a podcast or, you know,
Speaker:you've got so many stories, you should start a podcast and tell those stories. And then you actually started realizing, you haven't got as many stories as you thought you did,
Speaker:or your life isn't as interesting as you thought it was. Well, it turns out mine can be.
Speaker:Sometimes not so much. You know, I did find that some weeks I would struggle to find content,
Speaker:so I'd tell an old story from the past or something like that. There's a whole bunch of things that that could be going on there.
Speaker:I actually found that I really enjoyed doing it.
Speaker:a type of therapy for me.
Speaker:That show took on a life of its own.
Speaker:I started creating segments for it,
Speaker:and I started having to find things to fill these segments every week.
Speaker:And it became not what I originally wanted it to be.
Speaker:I originally wanted a quick show that I don't have to produce on a specific schedule.
Speaker:I can record it and it can be two minutes long or I can record it and it can be an hour long.
Speaker:I decided once I reached episode number 100 of that's a three beaver.
Speaker:I would start a new podcast.
Speaker:Which is this one? It's called how it's diggy. Hey, I'm diggy.
Speaker:That's why it's called how it's diggy. Maybe I didn't mention that. I don't know.
Speaker:This first episode is literally just me telling you who I am, tell you about myself,
Speaker:tell you about the previous podcasts that you know, such a thing does exist.
Speaker:And just to say to my previous listeners, because I know a few have followed me over,
Speaker:it will probably be some repetition because it's almost impossible not to. I've got some pretty funny stories that I want to tell, and some of the stories in a bit more of a cohesive manner, because I do have a habit of running off script and not that there is a script, but running off my train of thought and starting off on a tangent, and sometimes I did forget to actually tell the end of a story when I was once I started telling it.
Speaker:And my name's Diggy, as we've already said about several times now.
Speaker:I have two children, I have Fina and I have Tobias, who are 10 and 12 at time of recording.
Speaker:I did contemplate not talking about the children or giving their names out, you know, that kind of stuff.
Speaker:I mean, that information is already out there.
Speaker:It's not information that's secret.
Speaker:I did try and keep it secret on the previous podcast.
Speaker:And what it became excruciatingly difficult to remember to not say their names.
Speaker:And then I used to have to keep editing it out when I did.
Speaker:But also, all of my social media profiles at a public and they have been on them for years.
Speaker:I grew up in an age where you didn't really keep that kind of stuff secret on social media.
Speaker:And it's far too late to backtrack on that now.
Speaker:So I am just going to talk about them and just obviously not give anything out that's too personal for them.
Speaker:I also have a wife called Anne Marie.
Speaker:I will probably not tell that many stories about her, actually.
Speaker:All the way she's involved in my stories because that's not fair.
Speaker:She, she's not the one telling the story.
Speaker:The first story is to tell if she ever wants to start a podcast of her own, she can do.
Speaker:In general, this show isn't actually about anything.
Speaker:It is literally just going to be me telling stories from my past, telling stories that happened to me on a day-to-day basis.
Speaker:Going through some of the things that I found online, you know, I might find a joke that I like, I lied, I might find a news article on Reddit post, anything.
Speaker:It is just literally the whole point is, it's just somebody to talk to, or to talk to
Speaker:you know, if you've nothing to do, put me on for a bit, that's how you're weird.
Speaker:Well, hey, and you can hear some stories, simple as that.
Speaker:The original concept that I actually started with, with, with That’s a Free Bee is that it's a, a look into the life of a complete stranger on the internet.
Speaker:I won't be a complete stranger because obviously you know my name, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker:Originally, I did the whole thing anonymously, actually, I completely forgot about that.
Speaker:So yes, I hope you will join me for more adventures and more stories.
Speaker:I do, oh, actually, I do have water.
Speaker:The last thing to say to listeners of That's a Free Bee. In the final show of That's a Free Bee, I actually did say, but I was going to launch Hey, it's Diggy. Well, first of all, the start of January. Oops. It's no in the middle of February. A lot of things got in the way. And I did say I was going to start it with an award show based on like the media that I've been consuming over the course of the year, because I do like to talk about TV shows, movies, comic books, all that kind of stuff as well. So.
Speaker:However, I decided that
Speaker:by the time, well, no came around middle of February. It was probably a bit too late in the year to have started that. I know it's only a month, but I'd rather, I'd rather wait till the end of this year to do it. So there will be the Diggy’s 2026 coming at the end of the year. I'd rather have time to just put a bit more effort into it. I couldn't, you know, make it to the quality that I wanted. So I've decided to hold back on that and release it at the end of this year.
